Call For Auditions!

RCAT is calling for expressions of interest for our upcoming play She Is Here by Marquita Lynn Walsh, directed by Jillian Keiley. If you would like to request an audition, please email animateur@rcatheatre.ca and attach a copy of your resume. Only selected individuals will be contacted for an audition. 

SYNOPSIS 

Inspired by a true story, She is Here follows the disappearance and murder of a young girl in a remote Newfoundland community, threatening its idyllic safety forever. Years later, our protagonist, Jess, returns to the community for Come Home Year and is met with the disturbing news that the murderer’s family is also returning. Childhood memories of the harrowing search for the missing girl come surging back as Jess, now a folk singer, struggles to find her voice again. 

Contract dates: March 31st, 2026-April 26th, 2026 

 

RCAT is looking to cast performers* for the following roles:

WOMAN 1: Jess’ mother Liz, head of the Come Home Year Committee/Aunt Irene/Chorus (rural NL accent required, regionally non-specific), age 40+ 

MAN 3:  Derrick Grey/The Detective/Man with the Dog/Stephen Grey/Chorus (rural NL accent required), age 40+ 

WOMAN 3: Ang/Psychic/Priest/Chorus, age 30+ 

 

Please note that performers should be comfortable/skilled in the following areas: 

  • singing acapella and in harmony 
  • movement  
  • working within an ensemble/chorus 

 

*Trigger Warning: Script is based on a true story about a murder in small-town Newfoundland and contains themes of generational trauma, substance abuse, and mental health. References to the actual murder case of which the story is built around are factual and although violence is not depicted literally it is referred to. Material must be approached safely and with respect.
