INKubator Series
RCAT is happy to announce an open call for the second year of our INKubator Series!
Our community is full of incredible, diverse, and uniquely talented Artists at all stages of their careers. This program is for Artists in search of a platform for a project in development — something not quite ready for production, but ready for exploration on its feet or around a table. Something ready for sneak-peek public showcasing and peer feedback.
5 Newfoundland and Labrador-based artists will be selected to develop their proposed Work in Development with an exploratory workshop day either in our Second Space or on our Main Stage, followed by a public presentation at 7pm on that same day.
New to this year’s application and subject to availability, INKubator applicants can request use of the Main Stage should their project be ready for deeper physical/technical/design exploration. Let us know where you see your project benefitting the most!
WHAT DO INKUBATOR PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE?
Selected artists will receive a $1500 Presentation Fee. $500 will go towards the artist as their Producer’s Fee and the remaining $1000 can be spent towards the day’s workshop and presentation costs, which may include hiring artists, paying for design materials, etc. In addition to the Presentation Fee, RCA will give the Artist access to the Second Space or Main Stage for one day, including technical, administrative, and marketing support as needed. As Artists in our Season, they will also receive complimentary tickets for all RCAT Productions in that Season.
WHAT IF MY PROJECT IS STILL IN ITS VERY EARLY STAGES?
We accept scripts and multidisciplinary projects at all stages of development. The evening Presentation is not required to be a performance of the project in full; Artists may choose to focus on physical exploration of a single scene or key elements of the larger piece. The point is about what is best for the Artist, the work, and advancing the project to its next stage of development.
CAN I APPLY IF I’VE HAD AN INKUBATOR IN THE PAST?
Yes! You can apply with a new work in development OR reapply with a previously successful project. If you choose to apply for a second INKubator slot for the same project, you must clearly identify its current stage of development and how the piece will be newly served by another INKubator.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
1.) Do you self-identify as an Artist?
2.) Do you have a creative project up your sleeve in its early stages of development?
If you answered yes to both of the above questions, good! You’re eligible! (If you aren’t sure how to answer those questions and would like to know more, please email Meghan at animateur@rcatheatre.ca.)
Interdisciplinary works are strongly encouraged. Scripts, stand-up sets, dance pieces… we want to know what you have up your sleeve!
