INKubator Series

Each RCAT Season features 1-2 Main Stage productions, 1 co-production (affectionately known as our “Significant Other Series” show), 2-3 Presentations, and 5 INKubator previews of works in development.

RCAT is happy to announce its inaugural INKubator Series!

Our community is full of incredible, diverse, and uniquely talented Artists at all stages of their careers. This program is for Artists in search of a platform for a project in development — something not quite ready for the Main Stage, but ready for exploration on its feet or around a table. Something ready for sneak-peek public showcasing and peer feedback.

Each year, 5 Artists were selected to develop their proposed projects with an exploratory workshop day for each in our Cox & Palmer Second Space, followed by an evening Presentation.

WHAT DO INKUBATOR PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE?

Selected participants receive a $1000 fee towards the day’s workshop/presentation costs, which may include hiring artists, paying for design materials, etc. The Artists will each receive access to the Cox & Palmer Second Space for one day, including technical, administrative, and marketing support as needed. As Artists on our Season roster, they will also receive complimentary tickets for all RCAT productions in that Season.

WHAT IF MY PROJECT IS STILL IN ITS VERY EARLY STAGES?

We accept scripts and multidisciplinary projects at all stages of development. The evening Presentation is not required to be a performance of the project in full; Artists may choose to focus on physical exploration of a single scene or key elements of the larger piece. The point is about what is best for the Artist, the work, and advancing the project to its next stage of development.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

1.) Do you self-identify as an Artist?

2.) Do you have a creative project up your sleeve in its early stages of development?

If you answered yes to both of the above questions, good! You’re eligible! (If you aren’t sure how to answer those questions and would like to know more, please email Meghan at animateur@rcatheatre.ca.)

Interdisciplinary works are strongly encouraged. Scripts, stand-up sets, dance pieces… we want to know what you have up your sleeve!
