Presentation Series

Each RCAT Season features 1-2 Main Stage productions, 1 co-production (affectionately known as our “Significant Other Series” show), 2-3 Presentations, and 5 INKubator previews of works in development.

For fifteen years, RCAT has received financial support from Canadian Heritage to present one National Presentation, one Provincial Presentation, and one community engagement initiative per Season.

Our Presentation Series is an opportunity to introduce local audiences in St. John’s and surrounding area to works from across the country and province. We live and make theatre in a geographically isolated part of the world, and our Presentation Series is an opportunity to connect with artists and companies with different practices, aesthetics, and means of storytelling from across Canada.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

We present shows that have already been produced and are suitable for touring. Submissions must include a tech rider and archival video wherever possible.

For our National Presentation, we are looking for works from anywhere in Canada beyond Newfoundland and Labrador.

For our Provincial Presentation, we are looking for Newfoundland and Labrador-based productions.

WHAT KIND OF PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

We endeavor to program RCAT Seasons around a particular thematic focus or artistic aim. Please familiarize yourself with our past programming. If you’re curious about how your show might fit within an upcoming Season, please reach out to Artistic Animateur Meghan Greeley at animateur@rcatheatre.ca.

There are no specific criteria for our Presentation Series, other than that we’re looking for works that excite us, move us, make us think, and will appeal to our audiences and/or help us engage new audiences.

In an effort to present works that are new to local audiences and connect artists from across our vast province, we are especially excited by submissions from beyond the St. John’s metro area.

I HAVE A SHOW THAT HAPPENED IN ST. JOHN’S LAST YEAR. IS IT ELIGIBLE?

While extending the life of local shows is an important endeavor, this isn’t exactly the goal of the Canadian Arts Presentation Fund.

If you have produced a local show that you believe deserves a second life, for artistic or other reasons, please see our Significant Other Series [hyperlink]. We are happy to discuss ways in which RCAT can support a project, particularly to hone its capacity for touring, as much as our resources will allow.

We also know that sometimes the odds can be stacked against a show; we live and work in a place where the weather and other circumstances can lead to small attendance and cancelled performances. (Sometimes it’s hard to make theatre in a place where it isn’t fit to go outside half the time!) If you have a show that was recently produced in or around St. John’s and believe that it can reach a broader audience as our Provincial Presentation, let’s talk! Please email Artistic Animateur Meghan Greeley at animateur@rcatheatre.ca.

HOW DO I SUBMIT?

Please fill out the following form Presentation Series Submission Form and email your script, archival footage, technical rider, marketing materials, and any other relevant materials to Creative Producer Luke Rowe at producer@rcatheatre.ca.

If our submission process creates a barrier or is inaccessible for you, or if you require accommodations, please email animateur@rcatheatre.ca or phone 1-709-753-4537.
