Come one, come all to the inaugural Hall Tech High! Free to those looking to find out more about the world of theatre behind the curtain or those that have already had a peek but want to know more. If you complete all the sessions, you will be placed on the Hall’s Casual Tech Call List.
In this session you will learn the basics of props for theatre – The three Bs of Borrow, Buy, or Build, creating a props list, tracking spending, rehearsal props, liaising with directors and designers, and much more. Participants will have a chance to have hands on with some common and unusual props and will come away with a better understanding of how to run – or be a part of – a theatre props department.
Kevin Woolridge is a theatre artist and maker with 25 years of experience and an MFA in directing and theatre creation from York University. Selected prop credits include Into the Woods, Sweeny Todd (Opera on the Avalon), Guys and Dolls (Atlantic Light Theatre), The Boxes (Temporary Theatre Company), and The Dialysis Project (RCA Theatre). Kevin has also built miniatures for a number of local short films, and annually works as a live foley artist with Ladies Who Lunch Productions.
