Andrew Kay has spent the last decade crafting laughs while living in Toronto, Halifax, Corner Brook, and his hometown St. John’s, NL. In addition to Stand-up Comedy, odd jobs have kept him afloat while performing small roles in Hudson & Rex, Riverhead (AIFF), and Black Conflux (TIFF).
His second solo tour, Somethin’ Else, is his quest to do something uniquely hilarious for the audience—be himself. You can expect a blend of crowd work, jokes, improvised music, and honesty. He is throwing himself on the stage like a noodle at the wall, and letting you decide how cooked he is.
Andrew makes his return to St. John’s after developing an ambiguous reputation with Halifax: he’s been banned from shows, iced out, and slandered on social media—even though he does yoga and has a great relationship with his mother!
From crude jokes to ponderings of enlightenment, Andrew doesn’t pretend to be perfect or have the answers. His pursuit of authenticity is guaranteed to highlight the silliness in himself, and in all of us.
