Red Island – Resettlement Girl CD Launch

Tonight is the long awaited CD LAUNCH CONCERT of Marion Counsel’s
“Red Island-Resettlement Girl..I Remember When”.
The new CD is a collection of original songs and recitations depicting Marion’s outport life on Red Island, Placentia Bay, and her experience of resettlement in the town of Placentia. Marion, along with her two singing friends Helen Murphy and Barbara O’Keefe have been performing the show to sold out audiences at the Rooms, the Placentia Bay Cultural Arts Centre and other venues around the Avalon Peninsula.
They have had rave reviews, including this one: “That was fantastic!…. The story of your last day on Red Island was so moving. I have heard and sung quite a few resettlement songs and stories over the years, but I have never been moved so deeply as I was tonight. Marion, Helen and Barbara are thrilled to be back performing again at the LSPU Hall, and are absolutely delighted to announce that they will be joined onstage by the multitalented Charlie Barfoot of “Topsail Tracks”, who produced, mixed and mastered the CD, and he will add his beautiful instrumentation to the show. Don’t miss this special event on January 31, 2020 at 8 pm. The performers will have a meet and greet after the show and will be available to sign CDs.
