RCA Theatre is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for its inaugural Playwright in Residence.
 
As a provincial leader in the development and production of new plays, RCAT is committed to fostering our local community of writers and theatre creators. The inaugural Playwright in Residence position is designed to support an established writer in the development of their own work through financial compensation and in-kind support, with the Playwright in Residence also supporting our community of emerging writers through a creative development/mentorship initiative of their choosing, designed in consultation with Artistic Animateur Meghan Greeley and RCAT’s Board of Directors. This initiative could consist of workshops, one-on-one dramaturgical sessions, etc.
 
The program is open to established playwrights with a history of public presentation. Special consideration will be given to playwrights with a background in community engagement and workshop facilitation.
 
Applicants must reside in Newfoundland & Labrador.
 
Remuneration
The 2025 Playwright in Residence will receive:
· 15,000 honorarium
· Workshop support for their script in development.
 
How to Apply
Applicants are asked to submit the following:
· A letter of interest that includes the script proposal
· A CV
· A sample of the proposed script or excerpt of the Playwright’s previous work. (Max 20 pages.) Forward submissions to producer@rcatheatre.ca. Deadline to apply is Dec 15th, 2024.
