ACTRA Newfoundland – Award of Excellence

ACTRA Newfoundland is proud to announce that Cathy Jones will be presented with ACTRA Newfoundland’s 2013 Award of Excellence at the LSPU Hall Second Space in St. John’s on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 during a reception from 5-7 p.m. The award will be presented as part of the Nickel Independent Film Festival. Please come join us as we honour Cathy.

Gemini award-winning actor, writer and founding member of the award-winning comedy troupe CODCO, Cathy Jones is Canada’s leading lady in character-driven comedy.

A brilliant stage actress, her one-woman shows included Wedding in Texas, and Me, Dad and the Hundred Boyfriends. Cathy’s film career includes the lead role in the Mike Jones classic, Secret Nation. During the summer of 2012 she appeared in the feature film, The Grand Seduction, with Brendan Gleeson and Taylor Kitsch.

Starring on the hit comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Cathy reveals her remarkable ability to portray complex and difficult characters including the sassy suffragette Babe Bennett and the wise Mrs. Enid with remarkable ease.

Cathy is as popular with her peers as she is with the fans, winning an incredible 18 Gemini Awards for her work as a writer and performer.  Cathy has also earned three Canadian Comedy Awards for Best Writing in a Comedy Series for her work on This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
