Mary Dalton’s Hooking: A Book of Centos, published by Vehicule Press of Montreal , is being launched in St. John’s on Monday, June 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.,in the Cox & Palmer Second Space at the Resource Centre for the Arts, LSPU Hall, 3 Victoria St., St.John’s. You are invited to the party to celebrate. Warning: there will be merriment. There may be hooking. Cash bar, delectable bites.
Hooking has been listed by The Globe and Mail and by the CBC on-line as one of the season’s top poetry books. Locally, it has been listed by Salty Ink on its top ten spring list of Canadian poetry books. Described on the recent Literary Press Group National Poetry Month page as “eagerly anticipated”, this is Mary Dalton’s fifth book of poetry and one that sees her approaching contemporary Newfoundland through the use of techniques in common with mash-up in music and collage in visual art, as well as in the traditional Newfoundland craft of mat-hooking.
