Second Space Series: Ian Foster & Alex Hickey
February 11, 2013 @ 7:00 pm
On February 11th at 7pm, join songwriters Ian Foster and Alex Hickey (Nova Scotia) in the Cox & Palmer Second Space for an evening of folk music. $5 at the door. Cash bar.
Ian Foster is a songwriter and storyteller from St. John’s, NL. His music combines many of the classic elements of folk writing with newer approaches to the genre. He has shared the stage with a diverse collection of artists including Amelia Curran, The Skydiggers, and Hugo Race (of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), among others.
In 2012, Les Siemieniuk of the Calgary Folk Festival wrote for people to “spread the word” about Ian in Penguin Eggs, Canada’s premier folk journal, while Gianni Zuretti of Italian magazine Mescalina called him “Canada’s best kept secret.” Find out more at www.ianfoster.ca.
Alex Hickey is a Nova Scotian songwriter whose songs walk a delicate line between cynicism and passionate love for the world. Clever and poignant, funny, heartbreaking and punch-to-the-guts honest, every CD or live performance should come with a packet of tissues. http://www.alexsings.ca/music/
