“Rattlesnake Cage” is the 6th solo album from Juno Award-winning artist Steve Dawson. While it complements the other works in Steve’s respected catalog, it is unique in that it is a solo instrumental guitar album. Utilizing slide guitar, Weissenborn Hawaiian guitar, and acoustic 12-string, Steve’s new original compositions touch on blues, bluegrass, improvisation, and the “Amercian Primitive” school of guitar pioneered by the likes of John Fahey and Leo Kottke. Shades of Mississippi John Hurt and Reverend Gary Davis colour the music, but Steve’s voice on the guitar shines through like never before. “Rattlesnake Cage” is an album of one microphone simplicity.
