In a relatively short time, The Blue Drop has earned a reputation as one of the most accomplished and promising of local performers, winning over audiences across the province with their consummate musicianship and striking harmonies. While the duo formed as a result of common musical interests and friendships, Allan Byrne and Holly Hogan come from very different musical backgrounds that give their collaboration a freshness and originality that is unmistakable.

Allan was born into a family of traditional singers and grew up listening to folk, classic country and contemporary singer-songwriters, all of which influenced his warm and intricate finger-style guitar work, as well as the intimacy and strength of his vocals. As a solo act and with his brother, Matthew Byrne, Allan has been performing in festivals and clubs since his teens.

Holly’s chops were fashioned by a more formal musical education at Holy Heart of Mary High School where she sang in ensembles of every size, from trios and duos to chamber and performance choirs, as well as performing solo. Her ear for melody, and for the possibilities of harmony, has been honed through years of performing everything from classic jazz to Greek folk music.
